Same for me, but in my case the message is explicitly stating that there is a problem they are trying to solve.

EDIT: After a couple of days testing it, I am really impressed how much it improves using Firefox and dissapearing all the ads the webmail displays (not possible using IE). The only problem is how to resize the left pane (the one with the folders), because it seems that it is not possible to select the border.

The latest Hotmail Extension for Webmail Extension for Thunderbird -- 1.0.13 -- will collect mail from my new @Live.com address.

Nice.

Thanks Comodo Dragon

Thanks Javier. I also read this article the other day:

http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-6134643.html
Quote:
Although the Redmond, Wash.-based company moved the Hotmail successor out of beta Thursday in The Netherlands, Microsoft won't have the final version in the United States and elsewhere until next year, later than it had planned.
...
The introduction of Windows Live Mail and the chance to get "yourname@live.com" was setting off a bit of a frenzy for e-mail addresses, reminiscent of the dot-com boom, but on a much smaller scale, Sim said. "Even the prime minister wanted to reserve his live.nl alias because he knew there would be a land grab for these new Windows Live Mail addresses," he said.
...
Microsoft's challenge will be to differentiate its product enough so that people will prefer it over other services, Gartenberg said. "It's easy to sign up and harder to get someone to continue to use it as a primary account," he said.
...
Meanwhile, Sim said Microsoft was shutting down a Web site that purported to offer a hack in the Windows Live Mail sign-in process so that anyone could sign up for live.com and other local Live domains.
A source of that version of the hack said today that it doesn't work anymore (but it seems to be working still).

P.S. FWIW, I never got any Microsoft confirmation/notification message sent to my backup email address (the one I entered in the password reset section). My account works fine though...

I got the confirmation at one of the two addresses I set up, but not at the other.

I never got the confirmation at the backup address, which makes sense because it was confirming the new address as passport, not confirming the backup.

live.com is an innovative cool name but has it pop3 and or IMAP4 or is it only webmail? Is it 30 days inactivity rules too?

I get that big storage counts compared to hotmail but why else dabble with MS?

The catch could be the famous sentense "Live and let live" AA people here say it all the time so they want it I guess.

That would be very surprizing I guess. They very recently took away the LDAP for free at hotmail. So why would they give pop3 for free or forwarding?

If others know otherwise I would be happy to know source of that info.
