From what I have experienced, I would say Runbox has some issues of some kind.

Mail gets delivered sometimes and sometimes it don't.

digp: Most services have some disturbance incidents now and then, I would dispute gowally's overall assertion that mail delivery is random though, strongly! Most don't have many problems, and the service is much more stable than ever before. On to gowally's thread now..

gowally,

The runbox system successfully delivers over a million messages every day. On the very rare occasion that a delivery fails, it is usually due to a temporary error that is resolved within hours. Delays on outgoing messages are even more rare, and are usually caused by problems at the receiving end.

runbox has evolved substantially during the last year (especially the back-end), and is in general more stable and reliable than ever.

Digp,
In my experience - this is incorrect. I have been using Runbox for a year now. Mail is always delivered. Very occasional delays are the exception, not the rule. But between the Runbox chatroom, Service page and this forum - you can quickly find out when this happens, making it a non-issue.

I think gowally's statement is inaccurate and unfair to Runbox, not to mention plain rude.

Runbox v Fastmail is a tougher question. Fastmail does have added features, but I prefer the clean, intuitive interface offered by Runbox. Not to mention the likeable developers . It all depends on what you need. If you are a heavy user, Runbox also offers unlimited bandwidth whereas Fastmail's is limited, even for power users. I suggest you try them both for a 30 days, and then decide. But if your main concern is downtime/technical problems, then Runbox is in the clear.

Thanks,
BKB.

I would also have to disagree strongly with gowally and cast my vote with those who find Runbox to be very reliable and an excellent service. I tested it out extensively and ended up singing both my wife and I up for 3-year accounts.

Not only has the reliability been outstanding, but the support is like nothing I've ever experienced. When was the last time you had a tech support question with a text company and could almost always find them live in an IRC chat room, or at worst get an email back from them within a matter of a couple of hours.

We also have access to these forums and all the history therein. I feel incredibly well-taken-care of by the Runbox folks, and my messages have all come through perfectly.

I totally disagree. I use to send a copy to myself and no mail got lost. After being customer for nearly three years I must conclude that Runbox has (after some diffuculties in the beginning) developped to be one of the most reliable email-services with the best customer service I've ever experienced.

Ok, OK

Ok folks, I didn't mean to be rude to Runbox or get anyone upset over the statement I made.

I was stating the issue I was having which was the truth.
I kept the emails I was sending and yesterday there was 6 emails I sent that didn't make it to the intended.

So, I was stating what happened to me.

runbox's clean and unclutted interface is one of the things i like the most about it
also i have failed to see another provider give you so much email space and disk space for so little money

i find it hard to give runbox a bad review in any aspect

keep up the good work runbox team!!

i have just updated my account with files and looking forward to the files beeing linked so i dont have to login twice each time i wanna see my mail and files

Understood - but why not tell us more about your problem, since you are the only one experiencing it?

gowally,

That's completely unfair. I have thousands and thousands of emails in Runbox, routinely process many pop3 retrievals into Runbox a day, and for the past 1 1/2 years have experienced excellent performance.

Perhaps you're having problems on the SMTP side?

I've been using Runbox for over a year without any significant problems. I also have a Fastmail and MailSnare account and I prefer Runbox.

Regards,
Rich
