new fastmail config (PC-PINE)
I've been using Fastmail under Pine for many months now. Due to a faulty power cable (sigh), I have no access to my Pine install on my notebook.
I wanted to set up PC-Pine so I could read my IMAP mail from my home desktop machine (till Dell ships the new cable). I tried to follow the config directions on the FAQ page, but, I keep getting the error "Could not determine server" after typing in my password. My password is correct (and I'm sure the caps-lock key is not turned on) I don't recognize the configuration information, it looks like the server has changed since the last time I got this to work. # List of directories where saved-message folders may be. First one is # the default for Saves. Example: Main {host1}mail/[], Desktop mail\[] # Syntax: optnl-label {optnl-imap-hostname}optnl-directory-path[] folder-collections=Mail mail/[], FastMail.FM {mail.messagingengine.com/user=<eachna at fast-mail dot org>/ssl}INBOX FastMail.FM-Folders {mail.messagingengine.com/user=<eachna at fast-mail dot org>/ssl}INBOX.[] user-domain=mail.messagingengine.com inbox-path={mail.messagingengine.com/user=<eachna at fast-mail dot org}INBOX I used to have to use /no-valid-cert (or someting like that) and I think there were some other flags as well. My now-old config files still work just fine (I didn't notice that the servers _had_ been updatd), but, I don't have a copy I can reference. I also tried it with username@fastmail.fm, but, that didn't work, either. |

Does removing the 'at fast-mail dot org' part from your username help?

Got power cable -- here's the "working" config for reference
I wanted to thank the folks who tried to help me. My power cable came in so I was able to boot back in. This is my working config information for other people who may be having trouble with Pine.
Note that I have mail accounts other than at Fastmail (and only IMAP accounts are configured, POP3 doesn't yet work). I do get a small error that says "Folder does not exist", but, I can get to all my folders, so, I think that's a minor issue on how I configured my Inbox path names. ## smtp-server=mail.optonline.net, http://www.proxy.fastmail.fm/user=ea...validate-cert, mail.bnl.gov ## incoming-folders=Eachna {www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidate-cert/user=eachna}inbox, Eachna-Jewel {http://www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidat...r=eachna_jewel}inbox, Labmail {rcf.rhic.bnl.gov/user=morsej/ssl/novalidate-cert}inbox, POPmail mail/Allowed ## inbox-path={www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidate-cert/user=eachna}INBOX, {http://www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidat...r=eachna_jewel}INBOX, {rcf.rhic.bnl.gov/user=morsej/ssl/novalidate-cert}INBOX, {pop.mail.yahoo.com/user=goldmooneachna/pop3}INBOX, {pop.mail.yahoo.com/user=renniefan/pop3}INBOX ## folder-collections=Eachna {www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidate-cert/user=eachna}INBOX.[*], Eachna-Jewel {http://www.fastmail.fm/ssl/novalidat...r=eachna_jewel}INBOX.[*], Labmail {rcf.rhic.bnl.gov/user=morsej/ssl/novalidate-cert}INBOX.[*], POPmail C:\Mail\[*] ## |
